I’d been trying to come up with a unique way to present my favorite fall photos for Scott Thomas’s assignment this month, when I thought of rainbows. I was treated to a couple rainbows recently, and managed to get a few pictures, so I decided to present some of my favorite autumn shots in a rainbow of colors.
Red macoun apple
Is this pink mum close enough to fit in the red category?
Orange beach
Classic combination of cat and orange pumpkin
Summer fades away like the sunflower, giving way to..
yellow leaves
green pond
green pine needles in afternoon sun
shiny blue pond
I saw this peregrine falcon soaring in the bright blue sky while I was raking leaves last weekend.
I made purple grape jelly for the first time ever this fall
and saw a lovely purple sky.
While I was composing this blog post, I had the lyrics to one of my favorite songs in my head, “Boys of Summer” by Don Henley:
Nobody on the road, nobody on the beach,
You can feel it in the air, the summer’s out of reach,
Empty lake, empty streets, the sun goes down alone…
Thanks again, Scott, for another fun assignment. I will be looking forward to the assignments of 2011!
Wow… You’ve managed to capture some amazing light in some of these shots… Perfectly expressing the feel of Autumn… Wonderful selection Karma… 🙂

NICELY done! I love how you’ve taken on this challenge! SO creative!
I love the Eagles and Don Henley. I’ve been listening to their ‘Hell Freezes Over’ CD on repeat play while I do all the painting in the kitchen… 🙂

Thank you, Tracy.
Which CD is “Hell Freezes Over”? Is that a greatest hits? Live?
Comment by Karma — November 20, 2010 @ 8:50 am |
In 1994, the Eagles did a reunion tour and released “Hell Freezes Over” which contained 15 songs, 4 of which were new studio recordings (all of them outstanding). The remaining songs are classics that were recorded live. If you are an Eagles fan, this is a MUST HAVE cd! The arrangement on Hotel California with its extended acoustic guitar opening is killer! 🙂

I shall investigate on iTunes!

These are all great, but my favorite is the “yellow leaves” 🙂

Thanks Michaela. Funny, yellow leaves was quickly taken out my back door one day. I was waiting for the day when the entire row of trees at the back of my property turns yellow together, but I seem to have missed it. There was rain and wind here this week, so I think I missed the shot. When I did my 365 project in 2008 (with the old camera of course), this is what it looked like:

You found all the colors of the rainbow, and created a very nice autumn-mood post. The orange beach looks beautiful.

LOVE the orange beach and purple sky! So creative. Great job! (I figured out what K-cups were while lying in bed last night lol)

Thank you, Becky. That’s funny about the K-cups! I just replied to you on FB a few minutes ago. I actually did a picture of K-cups during “Picture Fall.”

That is seriously my all-time favorite song ever. Yes – even more than anything by Sting or U2, and that’s saying something!
Aren’t you clever with your rainbow of photos! Nice capture on the falcon. I had one land on a tree branch in my yard a few weeks ago – very low and close, but didn’t have a camera at the ready.
Cedric is making a something smells interesting face in that picture!
I think my favorite is the purple sky, man… purple haze!!!

I don’t know if I ever knew that about it being your favorite, favorite – certainly “one of” but not THE favorite. I don’t think I could pick my favorite favorite, but that one would definitely be on the list.
I’ve been waiting since summer time for one of those dang falcons to land somewhere in my vicinity so I could get a closer-up shot. Probably about as likely to get that shot as I am to get the hummingbird shot.
Cedric is inhaling the intoxicating aroma of catnip – I admit to bribing him to check out the pumpkin a second time since I didn’t get a clear shot the first time!
Thank you – I’m glad you like my “clever” arrangement.

A great idea with the rainbow theme! Very fine photos – my favorites are the pink mum and the green pine needles in afternoon sun: The colors and the DOF are great here.

Thanks, Truels! I do love the control over DOF that the DSLR gives me.
