"Bark"a-lounger?

Would this be called a bark-a-lounger? 😉

I didn’t even know it was in the forecast, but this is what I woke up to this morning:

Yesterday, it was 49°F.  The snow from Nemo was melting.  I ran errands in the afternoon without wearing a coat.  The snow out here today is nothing to cause any concern – its only an inch or two of the gently falling stuff.  But its February now.  My patience is wearing thin.  At Christmas time, I was wishing for a little bit of it, but now I’m ready for it to be done.  Robin was showing pictures of crocuses this weekKate has a beautiful bud of some sort featured in a gorgeous week of photos.

Have you all met Kate?  I’ve recently discovered her blog and her gorgeous photography.  She has inspired me to want to get out there and try to do more with my own photography.  I’m on school vacation this week, so I’m hoping to spend some time driving around looking for interesting photo subjects, rather than wallowing in the fact that I’m not off to some wonderfully warm locale for the week.

This could be happening to me!

  1. That “Bark-a-lounger”and comic made me laugh!

Thank you for the sweet words. It’s been such fun getting to know you through the “inter webs” (a family joke) and seeing your own WONDERFUL photos! I’m sure you’re sick of the white stuff, but for those of us who never get to see it, it sure is nice to see it here on your blog. And warmer weather will be here soon, I can feel it! Hope you have a happy Saturday and a wonderful break. : )

    • Thanks very much Kate. Yes, I’m sick of the white and ready for green and flowers. Unfortunately, I know there’s a good month’s worth of “brown” still to come!

  2. You did go & run the errands without a coat? When there’s such dense snow around? I also wonder how the dog can withstand the cold..It appears to be freezing everywhere. But, indeed, amazing place it seems to be. Such whiteness. Have a nice time during your vacations, may you have blissful days. Thank you for sharing the nice captures. 🙂

    • Well, I was still wearing a sweater, and I didn’t have to get out of my car very much Sonali! Teddy, my collie, seems to have VERY thick fur and the snow and cold doesn’t seem to bother him much at all.
      Thank you.

  3. I can understand your surprise at seeing the snow after such a relatively warm day Karma, but doesn’t it look beautiful? Perhaps it’s your last glimpse of a winter wonderland in your garden before the sun takes hold of your part of the earth. Your dogs always seem to enjoy the snow so much, so I’m wondering how they feel about the summer. Have a wonderful week off, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the break, no matter what the weather has in mind for you. 🙂

    • Oh, if it only this was my last glimpse of winter! Here in Massachusetts, true spring warmth doesn’t really get here until the end of April, and even then we can still have some pretty cold nights. We can get some blissfully warm days in March and April, but we know they are not really here to stay just yet. Teddy, the collie, is joyful for all seasons. He is active and ready to play at a moment’s notice and rarely seems to take heed of the weather. Daphne, the golden retriever, on the other hand, is really not crazy about the heat of summer. She takes it easy and prefers lie on top of the air conditioning vents in the house!
      Thank you Joanne.

  4. OK, Karma, I totally get it. We’re tired of snow…but are we really? We’re tired of the weight of it, the work of it…but are we really tired of the beauty? I can’t decide. But enjoyed stopping by your blog and reading of your week and seeing your snow pics and admiring how you’ve been inspired by your new friend.

    • I’m tired of the cold of it, Kathy. I am impatient to warm my face in the golden glow of spring’s warmth. The snow doesn’t bother me so much (as long as the power stays on!) but it is a reminder that the days that I love so much are still out of reach. I’m hoping to have some interesting blogs to write and photos to share during the week off from school.
Thank you, always, for your kind words.

  5. I too am sick of the cold of it, and since our snow is left over from December it is no longer fluffy pretty. It’s icy dirty. How I long for warmth and green tips peeking through the earth.

    • That groundhog said we’re supposed to have an early spring this year. Let’s hope he’s right!

  6. We had snow flurries last night that melted on impact and I couldn’t get the dogs out in it. And all three are hunting dogs supposedly! I don’t know what they’d do if we got as much snow as you did.

    • That’s funny to me. I’ve never met a dog that doesn’t love the snow!

  7. It was warm and sunny here in Louisiana, Karma – but I’m the winter type and wish for snow all winter long. We did get an ice storm a few weeks ago, but it’s not exactly the same. I guess the grass is always greener….or the snow is whiter. ❤

    • Maybe it is true, Stacy: maybe it is part of being human, always wishing for what we don’t have.

  8. Snow is so lovely when it sticks to the trees like this.

Got snow over here and very cold temperatures for mid-February. Looks like we are having a “normal” year in central NY so we’ll have snow until mid to late March with Spring like days every few days to tease us.

    • It didn’t stick for long. If I had waited til the afternoon to take those photos, it would have been gone. Really hoping the snow isn’t still hanging around come the end of March!

  9. It was so pretty, wasn’t it? It didn’t last very long. Have a great vacation week!

    • Thanks Becky. And now it is gray and raining. Bleah, I’m ready for spring.

  10. So so pretty….meanwhile the trees might be blooming here soon. Allergy season has already started for poor Melissa 😦

    • It is pretty but it is a reminder of the cold. I’m ready for blooming trees! Hope Melissa feels better.

  11. LOL!! I really did laugh out loud at “bark-a-lounger.” Love it. I love your snow too, although I’m growing weary of winter now too. It is brutally cold and snowing here today. Even though I love winter, enough is enough. Thank you for the link, Sorry it’s taken me so long to get over here and thank you. I am so far behind that it might be next winter before I’m caught up.
