What kept me so busy that I…

…forgot to do Scott’s assignment this month, which was due today!

As I was griping last week, it has been rather rainy here recently, but the sun poked out this weekend.  I was going to do Scott’s assignment (really!), but as happens to us all, life got in the way.  Spent Saturday morning running errands with hubby, getting those peppers we wanted, and while we were at the garden center, treated myself to this:
Fuschia

It is a big, beautiful fuschia plant!  I hung it near my hummingbird feeder, in the hopes of attracting more hummingbirds.  My hummingbird has been visibly absent lately – I hope I didn’t offend him or her when I let the feeder go a wee bit too long before cleaning it out.  Hey Mr. Hummingbird! It is clean now, I promise!  And I bought you a fuschia too!  Please come back.

After all the errands, I had to do what I am sure many of us had to do after all that rain – mow the lawn!  Saturday evening I spent working, working, working on a project I’m feeling pretty good about, but unfortunately cannot share with you all just yet.  There is an extremely, ridiculously slim chance the recipient of said project could happen to read this blog post, and I can’t have that!  I’ll fill you in on the mystery in a couple weeks.

Sunday was a practically-all-day-long-annual-affair for this dancing family.  The girls and I had picture day at the dance studio.  On this day, we go to the studio with all our costumes for recital to have professional photos done.  Doesn’t sound like it should be practically-all-day, does it?  It is when one purchases 15 costumes for recital!  Eight for Meghan, five for Sarah and two for me!  Ay-yi-yi!  Of course I took a few shots of my own too.  Here’s a little slide show sampler (please excuse the squinty eyes – not much shade to be found in the parking lot of the studio!):

What do you think, Scott?  Are you buying my excuse? 😉

  1. Let’s see…first nice weekend in a month, 15 outfits for you and the girls and a garden to plant. I guess I will buy that once we see you in your outfits. 😉

    • Scott, I have a much better excuse as my poor camera is still in the shop. 😦

      • My outfits? Why would you want to see that? 😉

  2. I don’t think excuses can get any better than that. 🙂

I didn’t get around to doing the assignment either. I’m traveling at the speed of life lately, and it’s faster than I’d like.

    • Ooops. Posted before I was ready. Weird.

Your fuschia is lovely, as are your girls in their costumes.

Those are some cute costumes…. but where are yours????!!!! Come on, we all want to see! 🙂

I chose not to do the assignment, I don’t want any blog stalkers to know which town I live in.

    • You have blog stalkers? Yikes!
I did catch quick glimpse of a hummingbird near the fuschia, so hopefully he/she will be back.
      Thanks Michaela!

    • I will think about posting the picture of the costume of which you speak. THINK about it!

  6. WOW… That’s certainly one selection of outfits you’ve had to pull together there… and to think it’s taken MY daughter over a month to pick a dress for her forthcoming prom !!!… How on earth did you manage to get so many together…

    • Brian, sometimes it is difficult for me to tell if you are joking around or not! I’m thinking maybe this time you are not, and perhaps, being an English dad, may be unfamiliar with the concept of an American dance recital? My girls go to dance classes all during the school year. In June each year, at the end of that year’s classes, the students all perform a dance number with their classmates at a show. Our dance teacher plans for this show, which we call a recital, for most of the year. She chooses costumes for each class from catalogs and orders them (we have to pay for them of course).

      • LOL… Well “normally” it’s safe to say I am… but as far as it taking a month for my daughter to pick a dress for her junior prom… then nope !!… It HAS taken that long, and some !!… lol… I see it’s pretty lucky then that the recital outfits are chosen by the teacher (even if you have to pay for them)… It would be a nightmare if you had to pick them / make them as well…

      • Wait a second – junior prom? I thought your older daughter was like 13? Or younger? There’s another peculiar-ism between “British” and “American”; a junior prom here would be for students in 11th grade (approx. 17 years old)- their “junior” year of high school. The senior prom is for those students who have finished high school and are about to graduate.

  7. Nope… She’s 11… and her junior prom is when she leaves junior school… or primary school as we call it, before she moves up to secondary school… The real peculiar-ism is that we have proms “at all”… lol… as we NEVER used to, and even when they started having them just a few years back,it was only when you finally left school… but now it seems we’ve taken it one step further than you, and it’s when you leave ANY school !!!… WE only ever had a school disco… 😉
