Cape Cod Days

For days 38, 39, and 40 of summer, my girls and I visited my mom on Cape Cod. We were hoping the weather forecast would improve, but it remained overcast with occasional showers until the day we needed to come home. But we made our own fun.

We started on Sunday with a lunch that definitely doesn’t fit into my fitness plans, lol:

That’s a split dog with bacon and cheese from the The Dog House in Dennisport.

I spotted some beautiful lilies across the street while we ate our lunch.

Visits to the Christmas Tree Shops are always a part of our trips to the Cape. Sarah has a tradition of finding the silliest hats she can while we are there and trying them on.

Of course we never miss a visit to the candy store either!

The Yarmouth Sand Sculptures were back again this year, although they did not seem as expansive as I’ve seen in the past.

We found a unique window box at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow in Orleans, where we stopped for afternoon treats.

An afternoon walk along a small boardwalk at Grey’s Beach in Yarmouth turned up a personalized board that I had to take a photo of –

I hope Daphne does not take offense!

A little visitor stopped by at my mother’s house when we had returned from our day’s adventures.

In an attempt to enjoy a little warm, sunny beach time before we had to head home, we enjoyed a treat from Dunkin Donuts Tuesday morning.

I’m very appreciative of this time I got to spend with my family. Excellent treats, excellent times!

Three Weeks Already

I’ve been out of school for 3 weeks already. This time of year passes much more quickly than the winter, don’t you think?

Sarah and I spent some time together today. She is having her senior portraits taken next week, so of course that meant a little shopping. After choosing a few things, we popped over to Panera Bread for lunch.

I’ve been hoping that once the house renovations that we started last year get moving again, I might be able to get some new furniture. For the heck of it, Sarah and I popped into a furniture store to have a look around.

How is your summer so far?

Missing Her Already

Meghan went back to college today. It was great having her home for Christmas break. The three and a half weeks she was here flew by. Much of the time she was home was spent out and about with the boyfriend and such, but I was happy for the time she was here and our home felt complete again.

A la Robin of Breezes at Dawn and my New Year’s post, I may share some of the joys I find in the every day from time to time. Here are two from my visit to the grocery store today.

At the entrance to the store:
A breath of spring

I was tempted to take one home, but I didn’t want to push the little water-filled glass all over the store with me, then I forgot about them when it was time to pay and leave.

In the parking lot:

Usually I feel a little sad when I see a dog in a car, but today the temperatures were mild and this fuzzy guy just looked so cuddly. He or she wasn’t barking at the passers-by, just taking in the scenery while waiting for its owner to finish shopping. I know better than to do so to a strange dog but it was difficult to resist giving this big teddy bear a hug.
