Day 24, stung again.
Ow!

It seems to happen with such regularity in the summer now that I come to expect it. Yellow jackets start building nests in the ground in my lawn, I run over the entrance with my lawn mower and piss them off, then I get stung! I wrote about it happening for the first time here. Last year I had one stuck in my hair and got zapped on my head over and over again. Had a nasty headache for the rest of the day. Today wasn’t too bad, one on the knee and one on my stomach. The pain is gone now and I’m left with that annoying itch.

  2. I’m a semi-professional gardener. Yellow Jackets are my nemeses–both ground and aerial nesters. They star in my nightmares. They’re unavoidable, alas–but if it’s any consolation on the head stings, please imagine the dozen or so that got up my shorts a few years ago.

    • Hey there Chuck – thanks for stopping by and commenting. I can surely sympathize with those stings – not dozens in my case, but I have had them in that area too!

  3. OUCH! There must be something you can do about the bees to avoid being bit. I think you can become allergic if you are continually bit.

    • I seem to be rather lucky that I am not terribly allergic to the buggers – the pain and swelling never lasts long for me.
