Today is Day 60 since I decided on a new fitness commitment for myself. My blogging assistant and I have crunched a few numbers to share.
I’ve logged 2,410 minutes of exercise since I started paying attention to what I’m doing.
That comes out to just over 40 hours of moving this body beyond its normal daily routine.
Newly added goal of drinking about 80oz. of water daily – been meeting that for about a week now.
Grams of protein suggested for woman of my size for maintaining muscle: 100. Not easy to do! However I’ve been really bumping up my breakfast protein content lately. Here’s today’s:
That’s turkey bacon on my plate, by the way. Not bad tasting but a little dry in my opinion. It looks really weird before you cook it:
Pounds lost: maybe 5? Hard to say with all the normal fluctuations in body weight, day to day. Not really a goal of mine anyway, but it has been interesting to watch the numbers on the scale.
So far, I still feel motivated. I exercise 5 days a week and rest 2, generally following an exercise 3 days, rest 1, exercise 2, rest 1 routine. My energy has been good for the most part and my attitude has been better. I’m enjoying seeing the small changes: looser clothes, stronger feeling muscles. I have no idea what me and my 44-year-old body are capable of accomplishing, but I’m looking forward to finding out.
Congratulations on the 60 day mark. I’m eating healthier foods and am going to start exercising – tomorrow.

Thanks Carol. “Tomorrow” is a favorite day for starting exercise, isn’t it? π

Only 40 hours of exercise in 60 days? Is that cos all the water you drink makes you slosh around too much?? LOL I’m just kidding π That’s really great that you’re still keeping it up! I need to start again, but mornings is my only option and right now it’s still a little chilly to get out and walk (can’t do those exercise videos…just don’t have the motivation for those)

You got a problem with almost an hour a day? Lol!!! That’s what it comes out to when you figure in the rest days. Losing my aching back is my motivation!

Congrats on some great numbers! I think not worrying about the scale is the way to go. All that protein will help you build muscle anyway. Can’t wait to see how the numbers look as the year progresses.

Thanks Amy. Adding good protein isn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I don’t think I’m hitting near 100g on an average day, but I figure doing what I can to improve my intake can’t hurt. I’m thinking maybe I should have a 100 day celebration like the kids did in elementary school. Do your boys do that in school?

Way to go, Karma! Those are some great numbers. π In case you’d rather have regular bacon, there’s almost no difference in fat content between regular bacon and turkey bacon (it varies by brand), and turkey bacon has more sodium. Turkey bacon cheats by lowering the serving size in their nutrition information (one slice of turkey bacon vs. two slices of regular bacon).

You’re inspiring me to get moving more. Love your blogging assistant. I have one like that, too. I’m hungry now, after looking at your breakfast. π

Thank you Robin and thanks for the link to the article. Very interesting. I was looking for more protein for the fat content – I will definitely do some bacon label reading! Blogging assistant is sitting here as I type this comment π

Good for you. I never used to drink water and now drink at least 6-8 glasses a day in the form of Peppermint tea, herbal teas and hot water with a slice of lemon. I have also cut out sugar largely from my diet and eat less prepared food. I lost 20 pounds over a few months. I don’t have an exercise regimen just go for walks with dogs and garden in the decent weather. You’ll feel better for all your efforts.

Thanks Sybil. It is hard to be patient to see the changes, but I’m doing my best.
