Bits and Pieces

Hi there bloggers, readers, friends.  I’ve been a slackerly blogger once again.  But I have been thinking of you!  It is busy time of year for many of us, but I do hope to post from time to time this month.

I haven’t been inspired for a photo hunt this month, but I did have a group-blog idea pop into my head.  Some of you may remember this post that I did two years ago looking for dinner ideas.  There were many wonderful suggestions.  I never did put that binder of favorite recipes together like I promised myself that I would!  Anyway, the idea that I had was to ask all of you (myself included) to take pictures of what you are having for dinner for a week.  It wouldn’t matter if it was homemade or take-out, carnivorous or vegetarian – I’d still like to see it.
I even started to do it myself:

then kind of forgot about it.  So let me throw the question out to you:  Would you have any interest in photographing your dinner for a week and then doing a post afterward showing what you ate?  I thought it might be a fun way for us all to maybe get some different dinner ideas.  I’m not looking for fancy food here – unless you want to go that way.  I think it’d be great to see everyday kind of dinners.  Let me know what you think in the comments and maybe we can get a group blog-along project going, and pick a date to do it.

In other news, I have a picture of my girls to show you.

The semi-formal dance was at their high school last weekend.  It seemed like a good excuse to show you their smiling faces.

This made me smile  just the other morning.  A fiery sunrise was getting started as I was on my way out the door to work, so I grabbed a quick shot before I went out the door.

Sorry for the blur.  I was taken in by the gorgeous color and didn’t really take the time to stabilize myself before running out to the car.

It is a rainy Saturday morning as I sit here at my keyboard typing to you out there in the blogosphere.  We’re planning to brave the icky weather today to get our Christmas tree and get some more shopping done.  I’m getting there, not too much more to do.  That makes me happy since I host Christmas dinner for my family.  Once my gift shopping is done, I can focus on cleaning the house and planning for the big day.

I hope to be back at the blog later this weekend, maybe with pictures of the tree all decorated.  I plan to spend some time catching up with all of you too.  Please let me know what you think of the blog-along idea!

  1. OMG I’d be too embarrassed to show you what I eat. Sometimes it’s decent but other times it’s just left overs heated up and piled too high on my plate. Not much of a cook. I tell friends I just “heat food” …

    • There is no shame in leftovers, Sybil! That’s often what I have for lunch at work – leftovers from dinner the night before. Like I said, I’m just looking for different ideas. I get into major ruts with my dinner ideas!

  2. LOL. If I had photographed this PAST week’s dinner there would have been little to see. Had somewhere to be every night last week and never made dinner once. Wonder if this week will be better?

    • If enough bloggers seem interested, Dawn, we could definitely try to choose a week that wouldn’t be too busy for everyone.

  3. I love that picture of your girls, Karma. They look so beautiful. You know why I am reluctant to share dinners with the blogging public? Because people then ask for recipes, and then it’s hard to reply because I don’t really use recipes. And, of course, we eat a little bit differently than most people…

    • Thank you Kathy. If you did decide you’d like to participate in this dinner blog idea, you could state up front in your post that you don’t use recipes. That would be okay – maybe just share what your ingredients are if some folks would find them unfamiliar? I, personally, would love to see some of the different foods you eat.

      • Oh you are always so intriguing!! We’ll see. Is there a start date and end date kinda thing?

      • I haven’t set any dates just yet. Still trying to see if there is enough interest in this idea to continue. I’d probably set a range of dates if we get enough people who want to do it.

      • Count me as a “maybe”, lol. (See how inconsistent I am?)

  4. Count me in! I run way low on blogging ideas this time of year – esp since it gets dark so darned early.

    • Hey glad to hear it! I think we have a couple “maybe’s” – hopefully I’ll hear from a few more regarding their willingness to play along.

  5. Your girls are beautiful. I love the fiery colors of your sunrise. And I would love to take photos of what I eat for dinner (because knowing I’m showing off what I’m eating will keep me in line…errr… eating the way I normally do). Count me in. 🙂

    • Thank you Robin. Glad to hear that you’d like to play with your food. Oh, er, hmm, that didn’t quite sound right did it? But you know what I mean, right? 😉

  6. […] a new week and at midnight tomorrow into Tuesday we ring in a new year.  How about we go for that dinner photography blog-along I mentioned a little while ago?  Take pictures of your dinner for about a week any time between […]
