This post title kindly brought to you by dear friend Renae, who made this exclamation in the comments of my last post.  For a special birthday 3 years ago, Renae made me a quilt she titled “Forty Freakin’ Peonies” so she knows how dear to my heart these lovelies are.

It is Memorial Day weekend, so I hope you have a weekend of fun on tap with family and friends.  Mine is looking to be busy with a party to attend and lots of planting and yardwork beckoning me outdoors.  Here are some peonies to enjoy, and I hope to catch up with everyone very soon!

(I wish we had smell-o-blog for this one! So deliciously fragrant!)

  1. Just beautiful! Mine are still just buds, although the one bush that is the earliest is starting to show a bit of color. Thank you for sharing!

  3. Love peonies!! Mine are still tight little buds other than the tree peonies which are finished…and one sucker from one of those that is a regular peony and is opening……can’t wait for the next wave of them…though that means the summer is screaming along…..

  4. Oooooh., my lovlies!!! I have some opening now, too. the Tree Peonies are just ending. There are two in particular that I am excited to see bloom because they are new. One, I bought on clearance last Fall from a small nursery that is proving to be a dangerous place for me, and another one I just bought this spring from the same nursery. I’m always ont he lookout for unusual varieties and the first one is an Itoh hybrid (have you heard of those?) which is a cross between a tree and a herbaceous.

What a beautiful weekend, huh? Yesterday was downright steamy (good day for pool) and today should be good for gardening tasks. I love this time of year with the scent of peonies in the air. Do you cut the stems and make bouquets inside? The next time I am splitting peonies, I will keep you in mind. 🙂

    • This weekend has been just perfect! Couldn’t ask for nicer. I haven’t brought any peonies inside yet, but I think I will do just that tomorrow. Thanks for the idea!
I’ve never heard of the different varieties of peonies you mention. I just have my “basic” ones which I love dearly. 🙂

    • Thanks, Nae. That story is really cool. I’ll definitely bring some peonies inside before they fade away.

  7. Smell-O-Vision or a scratch and sniff screen would be wonderful.

Your peonies are freakin’ lovely. 😉
