7 Things about Me, Day 5

Filed under: Uncategorized — Karma @ 6:00 am

I have a guilty pleasure.  It is this TV show:

I used to watch it from time to time when it was on Monday nights after “Two and Half Men” – back before all that business with Charlie Sheen went down.  Then CBS changed its timeslot and I lost track of it.  A few months ago, TBS started showing the syndicated episodes.  I’ve gotten hooked all over again.  The cast of nerdy scientists strikes a chord with me.  I always felt like the nerd in high school, and I’ve thought more than once that if I could’ve tackled this beast:

I  might have been a great scientist myself.  My high school chemistry teacher dampened my love of science quite a bit with these awful weekly quizzes about combining elements and molecules and he wouldn’t let us look at the periodic table when we took the quizzes!  Why should anyone have to memorize that sucker?  There are tables for a reason – so you can look at them!  Sorry, I’ll get off my soapbox on that one.

Anyway, if you ever find yourself in need of a laugh, tune in to this one some night.  You don’t have to be a nerd like me to enjoy it!

  2. I wish that I had better science teachers, I had the same old guy from 7-9 grade and he was terrible which gave me no base. So one of my kids will have to be the marine biologist that I’m not and wish that I was.

    • Meghan entertained dreams of being a marine biologist for a while! Then she had to do a research project on a profession, I think in 8th grade, and decided that wouldn’t be a feasible goal to shoot for – extremely competitve to get a position that makes a decent salary.

  3. LOVE Big Bang!!! We sing the theme song every show and MADE our 20-year old niece learn the words one night (rewind, play, rewind, play, etc.) until she got it right! 🙂

Science and math are my thing (hate geography, history, and politics) so I can totally relate to the geeks! 🙂

    • Heh, heh – I’ve been learning the words to the theme myself! I downloaded it to my iPod, LOL. Another one of our funny similarities Tracy!

  4. Big Bang Theory is my favourite comedy ! Didn’t know that the Barenaked Ladies sang the theme. There had been a few words I’d never quite gotten, listening to the theme, thanks for revealing them to me.

P.S. I love Mentalist, Fringe, CSI Vegas and Merlin too !

    • I recognized the Bare Naked Ladies when I first heard the theme – we are fans in this household!
I haven’t watched the other shows you mention except for Fringe – I used to watch a couple years ago, but have now gotten way behind.

    • I’ve been watching 2 1/2 recently too – just curious how Ashton would fit into it all. He looks much better with his recently haircut! 🙂

  6. I am imagining you as a scientist. Perhaps you should go back to school and take night classes, say, just for fun? **just a random thought**

    • Maybe someday Kathy. Before I know it, we’ll be anteing up for our girls’ college educations!

  7. I love this show, too! I can see my older son growing up to be a lot like Sheldon! Funny how it’s never been brought up that he seems to have a touch of Asperger Syndrome….. 😉

    • I’ve wondered that about Sheldon myself!

  8. This is one of my favorite shows too. I think Sheldon and I are a lot alike. LOL!

    • But I’m not as smart as he is. 😀

      • LOL, kind of funny to think of the female version of Sheldon. But I guess that could be Amy Farafowler, right? (have no idea if I spelled her name right!)

    • Just watched the one the other night when he did that while having to go pee (Leonard was in the bathroom)! He was kind of doing the little-kid-gotta-go-to-the-bathroom dance while he knocked!

  11. […] what it was about that one.  Weirder still, rarely does a day go by that someone doesn’t view this post. It was from the week that I shared 7 different things about me.  It has the Big Bang Theory in it […]
