Did I sleep through February?

It sure felt like I must have today.  As the dogs and I went for our walk today, I’d swear it was late March.  The sun shined in a cloudless sky

that reflected in large puddles

and patches of melting ice

At 45°F in glorious sunshine, I thought I must be taking an early-spring rather than mid-winter walk.  We meandered our favorite path through mud and muck without complaint.

Teddy thought it a fine day for a stroll through the freely flowing stream, while I enjoyed taking this handsome collie profile with sun-sparkly water in the background:

The calendar did indeed say January 28, not March 28 when we arrived home.  If this is Mama Nature’s way of perhaps righting some wrongs of last year, I will take it! Thanks, Mama, for a lovely day!

  1. Waste not want not. I think it’s good to store up glorious days against the possibility that other days might be . . . just a little less splendid. Just looking at your post, my feet remember what it feels like to walk a path like that. Smells good, too. Pats to Teddy.

    • I agree Gerry! I didn’t in actuality miss February, so it remains to be seen what that month has in store for us. Thank you – and Teddy appreciate the pats – he licks your hand in return.

  3. I love the path with the trees all joining overhead … Winter has been pretty kind all over this year, I think.

    • Yes, winter has been pretty easy so far – but we shouldn’t speak as though it is over. We still have, what? about 7 weeks of it to go at least?

  4. We had snow here, but in between snow flurries it was actually sort of warm. If you were out of the screaming wind that is! 40’s tomorrow, we’re excited!!!

    • I did see the radar map – there appeared to be a line blocking New England from getting the snow that states abutting the Great Lakes were getting.

  5. Haha… The weather certainly has been playing some pretty crazy tricks, even over this side of the pond…

    • Hey, I’ll take it, as long as I can get it!

  6. Looks like there will be leaves on those trees any day now. It was a pretty day yesterday and really most of January has been enjoyable as far as the weather goes. Can’t say I’ve ever said that before. Love to see your pups.

    • If the weather stays like this, those poor trees could be tricked into budding!

  7. […] mentioned yesterday that it seemed like I had missed February due to the recent weather.  This morning I gained even more evidence that something seems to be […]

  8. Glad you’re enjoying the “warm” temps…. still chilly compared to OUR temps! 😉 I still haven’t given up the hope for snow, though.

  9. This has GOT to be one of the weirdest winters I can remember!! The forecasters are predicting mid to upper 40s tomorrow!! Trouble is, here – when it’s warmer – that means completely overcast sky. 😦 If we want a clear blue sky with brilliant sun, that means 15-20 degrees. It’s a trade-off!!

    • Yeah, that bright blue along with the warmth was pretty unusual for January around here, but I will take it whenever I can get it!

  10. BIG difference from last yeart’s winter, huh? I do miss the snow at times. But then, I get over it. 🙂

    • Yes, after “Snowtober” I get over the lack of snow real quick!!

  11. I know what you mean. Our daffodils have sent up green shoots already! I just hope it doesn’t decide to suddenly freeze and kill them off.

Looks like a wonderful walk. 🙂

    • I haven’t been out to check, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see some little shoots out there.
