My December Photo Hunt

Did you forget about it in the midst of all the holiday busy-ness?  I hope not!  I’m really looking forward to seeing what you all have come up with for the December photo hunt.  I have just finished up taking my photos today and decided to write up my post while they are fresh on my mind.  You still have a few days if you aren’t ready yet – and remember archived photos are okay if you need to use some to fill out your hunt.  Happy hunting, and in the meantime here are mine.

Lights:

Always happy to have an excuse to use the “starmaking” method I discovered for myself last Christmas.

Ornament:

This is an unusual one that I didn’t think I’d photographed before, and I liked the Christmas light bokeh too.

Card:

A very special group of Christmas cards- I received each of these from bloggers!  From left to right: Becky – Rebecca the Housewrecka, Kathy –Lake Superior Spirit,  Scott –Views Infinitum, and Michaela- The Daily Click.  Thank you all – they were so beautiful and creative.

Frost:

As Scott mentioned a few days ago, surprisingly enough, it has been difficult to get a picture of frost here in the northeast, so I had to improvise! This is the cupcake-eye-view of being frosted 😉

Treat:

I found plenty of excellent treats in my stocking on Christmas morning.

Family:

I had all sorts of intentions for capturing wonderful family shots on Christmas day, but taking pictures wasn’t foremost in my mind on that day.  Though the picture I’m showing you here is far from technically perfect, it is a pretty perfect shot of some very important members of my family.

Bonus:

One of the few shots I actually took on Christmas day.

Don’t forget to leave me a link to post in the comments of the original post for this month’s photo hunt.  I’m hoping to bring you the recap on New Year’s Eve!

  1. I didn’t forget, I just had a couple of kids taking turns getting sick for the last FOUR weeks, and then I wasn’t feeling well on Christmas 😦
Had the pictures all planned out, too, and my “treat” was going to be a trip to my favorite coffee shop (not Starbucks!)…. alone! That never happened either. *Sigh*
Love your pictures! (Those cards look very familiar!)

I still have a couple of days, right? Maybe, just maybe I’ll be able to pull it off after all? I will try, I promise!

    • Yes, I remember reading that it was not an easy December for you! I bet you’ve already taken many of the shots for the hunt; you probably could pull it off if you are feeling better – hope you are! (You are feeeing better enough to kick my butt at Words with Friends, that’s for sure! 😉 )

  2. Lots to like here, but that shot of the girls laughing is REALLY good. I have no technical insight, but I know when I’m seeing superb content. It’s absolutely full of life and joy. What a good Christmas you had. May the New Year be just as happy.

    • Thanks so much Gerry! “Action” shots have never been my forte, but I still liked what I saw in the laughing picture, despite the blur. Hope you and the duo had a great Christmas too, and that 2012 will be wonderful too – especially now that you have cable internet!

  3. Great photos! I see familiar faces! That was a surprise. 🙂 Great pics of your girls enjoying the day.

    • Thanks Becky. I thought certain bloggers might enjoy seeing those. The girls are more blurred than I’d like, but still fun shots.

  4. Great pictures. Love the lighting in the one of the Christmas cards…and the reflections in the counter. And the one of the “frost” … very creative! A belated Merry Christmas to you and yours!

    • Thanks very much Sean. I had to take several shots to get all 4 of those cards in the pretty light! I hope you had a great Christmas too.

  10. You did good, Karen! Sorry I missed this…I was ailing from something most of December and just couldn’t get my act together. Still feeling remnants (pretty much figure I have/had walking pneumonia) and just trying to rest now that all the craziness is over.

    Catch ya next time! 🙂
