Idiomatic Photo Hunt

The submissions are rolling in, and I’ve finally finished mine, so let’s get to some photo-hunting!  I thought this month’s subject seemed like something you could have some fun with, and I did too, so let’s get it started in here!

My daughters kindly cooperated with me for some of my shots, such as:

                                                                                              “Bend Over Backwards”

“A Chip on her Shoulder”

“The Last Straw”

You didn’t think I was going to stop with only three, did you?  Ha, ha, silly you!  My tongue is placed firmly in cheek as I continue.  I got the family pets involved too:

“Put a Sock in It!”

I had to go against my principles for the above shot!  Daphne is a regular thief in the night when it comes to socks, so physically placing it in her mouth for the photo felt really wrong!  See how I go out on a limb for you?

“Kitty corner”

And, of course, a couple of somewhat ghoulish Halloween bonus photos:

“Riding Shotgun”

Okay, okay, I know that one was a little bit of a stretch for Halloween.   So how about this one instead?

“Over My Dead Body!”

These were but a drop in the bucket of all the possible idioms you could have used for this photo hunt.  I hope you found it was a piece of cake to accomplish.  I could probably keep going here, but I don’t want to beat a dead horse.

As usual, I will be posting a round up of all the submissions after Monday’s due date.  I can’t wait to sit back and relax and enjoy what all of your creative minds have come up with for this photo hunt  – as long as Mama Nature allows me to keep my electricity and internet service this weekend.  Would you believe the northeast is bracing for a snowstorm Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning?  Really Mother Nature – are you pulling my leg? (Sorry! 😉 )

  1. Great collection!! 🙂

  4. Not surprised you approached this hunt with a sense of hunmor! Oh how you LOVE to torture your family!!! 😉 Love all the puns, too.

Sigh….snow…yuck. I think you guys are in for more than us, but you never know. We actually need to get a new snow blower and can you BELIEVE they are now SOLD OUT??!!! I hope the stores get more since I wanted to buy one months ago but hubby insisted there would be plenty (and on sale) in the fall. Riiiiiiggght… 😉

    • I love to have fun with words Tracy, so you know I’d do my best to be funny.
More so than snowblowers, generators are disappearing like hotcakes now. (Oh I just can’t stop with the idioms, LOL)

  5. What a great selection! I especially liked the somewhat ghoulish “over my dead body”. I thought about doing “a drop in the bucket” but never quite got there.
Snow?! No no no! Toooo early. I fear it’s going to be a fierce and long winter.

    • Thanks Carol. I fear you are probably correct about this winter!

  6. Really? You used so many really cool ones. I should not have looked! Because one of them I was going to do but not now, oh no, not now. I have to go out and find a whole new third one for my blog! LOL!

    • I never look before I do my own photo hunts! But I am sure you would have been fine with your original idioms Dawn. We all have our own style and creativity.

  8. lol! I love this post, Karma. It’s great fun. 🙂

I hope the snow isn’t too bad for you. Family members from PA have reported in and they’re experiencing power outages, downed tree limbs and downed trees. Doesn’t sound good. I am so glad we’re not out that way now.

    • Thanks Robin. The snow was wicked! Recovery still going on out here almost a week after the fact.

  10. You did fabulous! Not only did you get so many people inspired, you came up with some “corkers”. (Picture a cork in mouth…) I love your last photo. It is GREAT! Thank you for all your effort.

    Comment by Kathy — October 30, 2011 @ 12:47 pm | Reply

    • Never mind, “corkers” probably wouldn’t be illustrated with a cork in mouth. Come to think of it, I have no idea why you would call photos like these “corkers”. Maybe the cork should go in my mouth? LOL!

      • I am thinking a foot would do better here, Kathy. 😀

        Comment by Scott Thomas Photography — November 1, 2011 @ 12:52 pm

      • I will take “corker” Kathy – according to freedictionary.com a corker is “A remarkable or astounding person or thing” Sounds like a compliment to me! 😉

  11. “Over my dead body” is great…but have to confess I am partial to “Put a sock in it!” Great photos and a lot of fun.

  12. Karen was on the receiving end of the “Snowtober Weather Event.” (Doesn’t that sound better than “The Freaky Freakin’ Snowstorm?”) She has power back, but no Internet service and wanted everyone to know she is alive and well, just unable to access her blog. She will return to her regularly scheduled programming once her service is restored.
    Thank you,

  13. Good to hear all is well in Karmadom even it is powerless at the moment. For once, I missed all the fun of an early snowfall. Heck, I even mowed my lawn on Sunday. Hope to see your power restored soon!

    • We only got a dusting here! VERY grateful. Just like with Irene, we were predicted to get some of the worst, but somehow were spared. I assume we won’t be as lucky next time.

      Comment by kanniduba — November 1, 2011 @ 3:49 pm | Reply

    • I am back. My lawn probably could’ve used one more mowing before all this happened. Oh well! Least of my concerns now.

  14. Your idioms are great. I am so glad I did not look at anyone else’s before I did mine … there were so many good ones.
Thanks, this was a fun challenge

  16. LOL… Great collection Karen… Quite amazed you managed to coerce the family in to participating as well… or was there a certain amount of bribery involved… as in “If you DON’T do it, you’re sleeping in the shed”…. 😉

    • Thanks, Brian. I think my daughters are actually hams at heart, though they don’t always show it.
