A Week in the Life, Day 1

While lazily scrolling through my Twitter feed this morning, I came across an interesting link.  It lead me to this post.  The idea was to share a week in your life through photos, words, notes, whatever you are comfortable with sharing.  The point is to make a memory and give your blog readers a little peek into your life, as well as take a peek into others lives if you care to.  I’ve often read Kathy’s and Gerry’s and Robin’s “slice of life”-style posts and thought maybe I’d do one.  This mini-project has some motivation attached too – a chance to win a really neat camera bag!  I decided to take a stab at it.  I don’t know if my crazy life will allow me to keep up all week, but here I go!

Today was actually a really good day for a project like this to start.  In addition to having the day off from work, it was a truly amazing day weather-wise for New England in October.  It was beautifully sunny once again, and look at the temp:

(and that was after the sun was starting to go down – I forgot to take a shot of the thermometer this afternoon when it was over 80)

My day started how I like it to start on weekends; it felt even more delicious knowing it was Monday!

Coffee and blog reading

I moved on to working on a couple of baby quilts.  I’ve really procrastinated on this for too long – these twin babies are due to arrive this Friday!  Yikes I better get moving!

But it was way too beautiful outside to spend the whole day inside!

My pool still isn’t closed!  Working on it, working on it – hopefully tomorrow.

Spent some time in my favorite chair.

I’m currently reading Cold Vengeance by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child.

I sooooo enjoyed the fact that I could sit outside comfortable in shorts! Woo-hoo!

Dinner time brought a recipe from Cooking Light magazine.

Chicken and Herb White Pizza was delicious!  Definitely a keeper recipe.  Just look at Sarah:

So, there’s a little voyeurism for you into this life.  I’m kind of curious to see what the rest of this week will bring; are you?

P.S.  I took all of my shots today using my nifty-fifty 50mm 1.8 lens.  It was seeming a bit underused recently, so I might make it part of my challenge that I will use it for all my shots this week, just to have a slightly different point of view.

  1. OK, I loved reading this! I love posts like this…they provide such an interesting peak into the small details of our daily lives. Now it feels like we can imagine Karma a little bit better. The pizza looked oh-so-good and the lure of books, computers and warm autumn temps can’t be beat. What a wonderful day (and blog).

    • Thanks so much Kathy! It really was a wonderful day – and the perfect ending to a great 3-day weekend.

  2. A nice “day in the life” type of post. 🙂

    • Thanks Bob – and maybe 6 more of these to come! Think you’ll get bored seeing them? 😉

  3. Fun! Love that you are doing this! It’s too late for me to join in but I might do it next week or the week after once I receive my new iPhone!

    • Yes! I just discovered this on the day it started, so I really jumped right in! If I’d known about it sooner, I might have had the chance to let you know about it ahead of time in case you felt like joining in.

  4. Ha! As much as I want a really neat camera bag, it’s probably better (for everyone) if I don’t participate. My life is so boring, it would put everyone to sleep and NO ONE would win that bag! 😉
Hey, it was over 80 and you pool is still open, you should have gone swimming!
Looks like you had a pretty good day…. and dinner looks sooo good! My kids wouldn’t touch that pizza with a 10-ft. pole, though! LOL

    • Even if you think it is boring, the rest of us might not! I always enjoy having a little look into other bloggers’ lives.
Well, the temps were over 80, but my pool water is probably about 40 degrees, LOL! It’s flippin cold! The only reason the pool is still open is that hubby was still using it after work for a stretch in September, then it got away from us. Dinner was delicious!

      • 40 degrees? You could practice for the Polar Bear Club 😉

  5. What a great post! Maybe even motivated me to do something like this…. 🙂 That dinner looks FANTASTIC, is it an easy recipe?

    Comment by Photo By Holly — October 11, 2011 @ 9:01 am | Reply

    • I hope you do decide to do something like this Holly – I enjoy being a little “voyeuristic”, LOL! The recipe was VERY easy – there is a hyperlink to it up there in the post. The only things I did different from the recipe was to grill up some boneless chicken thighs since I didn’t have a rotisserie bird handy and I added a topping of mozzerella – beacuse it just ain’t pizza without mozzerella!

  6. Great pics! The weather has been outrageous hasn’t it? Another New Englander here! 🙂

    • Hi there Melissa! Did you pop over from Adventuroo’s page? I need to get over sometime soon to have a look at the links! Thanks for stopping in and commenting. This weather has been outstanding! I will be sad to see it go – as we know it will, all too soon.

  7. Such fun to follow you around on your day. My first thought was “I should do that”, but I question whether I’d really have the discipline, or the ability to remember, to take pictures as I go through my day – for a whole week. But not to win the camera bag, just to be doing it. Maybe it would prompt me to do something different – otherwise you’d think “didn’t I just read/see that yesterday?”

    Comment by Carol — October 11, 2011 @ 9:58 am | Reply

    • Winning the camera bag is a nice incentive, but I don’t really believe I will win anything. I’m trying this for the fun of it, and hopefully to inspire others to give it a try – which going by the comments, it appears I may have! I don’t know how different my posts will be from day to day this week, but it will be fun to look for different things to shoot. You could try it just for a couple of days, maybe, Carol. Let me know if you do!

  9. Oh, this is marvelous. Thanks for the peek into your day off. I had to work. 😛 Isn’t it time to switch the Red Sox up for a Bruins cup?

    Comment by Scott Thomas Photography — October 11, 2011 @ 4:37 pm | Reply

    • Thanks Scott – bummer you had to work on such a fantastic day. I think you may be mistaking me for my sister! She’s more a Bruins fan than I am ( I don’t really follow hockey). Not really into football either, but so many people around me are Patriots fans, I could probably be talked into a Patriots mug. 😉

      • Puh-lease. Football, pfffft. Bruins mug FTW!

      • I seem to have missed having the hockey gene passed down to me in our family!

  11. Your life seems alot like mine! Well, except for the baby quilts and our pool has been closed for about a month now. 😉

These past few days have been simply gorgeous and a nice prelude to our Florida trip. I’ll catch up with you next week!

    • Have a wonderful time in Florida, Tracy! Drink lots of good wine and eat lots of good food and take lots of fun pictures – like I have to tell you that! 😀

That pizza is making me drool. lol!! The warm weather was wonderful, wasn’t it?

    • I’m glad you liked it Robin. I’ve honestly been surprised at how much people seem to have enjoyed the series so far. Who knew? 😉
The pizza was really good – and you could definitely make it without the chicken, so give it a try!

  14. Very cool idea!!
Perhaps I could tackle this too…although most of my days look the same lately…Husband out the door, coffee, Kid 1 out the door, breakfast, Kid 2 out the door, shower, Kid 3 out the door, chiropractor, grocery store, clean, Kid 3 in the door, play, Kid 1 in the door, deal with the new boyfriend, Kid 3 in the door, cook, husband in the door, Dinner, Bed. Sleep, awake, repeat. 😉
Ah, well, maybe I’ll give it a shot…maybe I’ll even learn something along the way. 🙂

    • I thought it might be hard to make it look different each day, but I’m trying to be creative. It is Friday as I am replying to you – and now I’m starting to run out of “weekday” ideas.
So you are in boyfriendland too huh? It is such a strange place to be isn’t it? Meghan’s been with the same boy for 2 years now! Ay-yi-yi!
I hope you do give it a shot!

  15. I am such a slacker I am just checking out this series of posts now. What a great idea though. Maybe I should do a week in the life of my kitchen to jump start my slackerly blogging of late!

That pizza looks great, and I love the picture of Sarah with it!!

    • Hey, at least you made it over before I am done! I think a week in your kitchen would be a great idea – a week of dinner ideas is always good to have.
I liked that picture too! The pizza was delicious and easy.
