Okay so I’ve been whining quite a bit that I seem to be the only blogger of this cool blogging community who didn’t have any daffodils in bloom.  They finally decided to show their beautiful selves today.

I was lucky enough to have a gorgeous, sunny and warm afternoon to shoot these pictures too.

Yep, that was the temperature today and I was loving it!  I got my reclining chair chair out

and enjoyed a complimentary iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts, courtesy of their Dunkin Perks program.  When I finished my coffee, I stalked the yard for more signs of spring.  I was reminded of Robin’s lovely post with maple tree buds, when I saw these in my yard:

These are all over a red maple that unfortunately partially broke and is bent over in the yard.  We haven’t quite decided what the best thing to do about it is.  As I meandered past the broken tree toward the back of the yard, a robin curiously decided to hang out on the fence rather than fly away as I approached.  It kept peeking back at me, perhaps to see if I’d gone away, but stayed long enough for me to take a few pictures.  I seem to be having better luck with bird pictures so far this year.

Speaking of better luck with bird pictures, wouldn’t it be wonderful if this is the year I finally get my hummingbird shot?  My husband claimed to have seen one a couple days ago, so I went ahead and hung my pretty new hummingbird feeder:

($5 at the Christmas Tree Shops!  Don’t you just love a bargain?)

I’m sure our 80 degree days will be short lived for now – high in the low 70’s expected for tomorrow, but I will take it!  Tomorrow I will also take you on a tour of all the Scavenger Hunt participants in case you haven’t made the rounds just yet.  See you tomorrow!

  1. 80!!! You are a lucky girl!

    • It was nice for the moment – we are back to the 60’s tomorrow. 😦

  2. The pictures of the daffodils are beautiful. I especially like the 2nd one. My daffodils are long gone, as are my hyacinths and jonquils. Tulips are out now and so pretty.

    • Thanks Andrea. I’ve got no luck with tulips; planted ’em once and they came up once or twice.

  3. Your daffodils are lovely, and I really like your maple tree buds. I can’t believe I’ve gone all these years and never noticed how pretty there are. Thank you for the link. 🙂

Nice feet! We were in the 80s yesterday too. Wasn’t it grand?

    • Thanks Robin.
I had to get the toe nails painted in a hurry – I’ve decided it is sandal season for the rest of the school year, even if Mama Nature disagrees! 😉

  4. Spring is finally arriving! Your daffodils are very pretty! I have some tulips and some sort of rose bush (I’m no flower expert) that I’m waiting for – roses usually don’t come out until June, though. I finally noticed some leaf buds sprouting on the trees – yay! Iced coffee was a good choice of beverage for yesterday – sounds yummy!!

    • Thank you Holly. It was a lovely hour or so I got to enjoy before I had to go back to the reality of the weeknight!

  5. Well it’s about time, right? Happy Spring 🙂
Your daffodils are beautiful, especially the second one. Good luck with the humming bird! Those things are FAST!! Your best bet would probably be to move the feeder close to the house and shoot through the window, so they (hopefully) won’t notice you.

    • Thanks Michaela. My hummingbird plan for this summer is to never be outside on my deck without my camera in reach! Several times last summer I was caught off guard as a little lovely came by while I was outside. But maybe I’ll think about grabbing another feeder for closer to the window too.

  6. Wow, it’s WARM inland! We’ve had some nice weather, too, but haven’t quite hit that high yet. Hopefully, it’s comin’. 🙂

I don’t plant daffodils so I have to enjoy others who do. The forsythias and magnolias have popped so the city is awash in yellow and pink.

Look at those painted toes! (Albeit, attached to very white legs!) Time to get your tan on, girl! 😉

Ooooh, yes, the hummers. I will need to hobble out there and get my two feeders up. Let’s think positively and we BOTH get great hummer shots this year!

    • Well, its warm for now. You know how it goes here in New England!
Aren’t the magnolias gorgeous? I don’t have one of those but they just seem to have bloomed in the last day or two around here.
Had to paint the toe nails – I’ve decided it is sandal season for the rest of the school year. I can’t stand the thought of wearing my winter shoes to work another day. As for the white legs, **sigh** that’s how they generally stay. This Irish girl doesn’t do well with the tan; I wear 50 spf most of the summer so I don’t burn.
