Awesome Weekend, Part 1

A delicious luncheon with friends, a visit to Cape Cod, early birthday gifts and the Red Sox win three games in a row – how awesome is that?

My weekend away began with a return visit to Pickity Place in Mason, NH.  It was delicious, as always.  You can click here to see what we had to eat.  Unfortunately, the wind was nasty cold and making the day seem quite bitter outside.  When we were there back in October, it was a mild fall day and things looked quite different.  Though my fingers felt like frozen claws, I couldn’t help snapping a few pics.

I thought this angel statue looked as chilly as I felt:
wishing it wasn't so cold today

I enjoy the effort the folks at Pickity Place go to to set up little vignettes that go with the seasons:

This frog prince didn’t seem to mind the blustery wind:

A frog or a prince?

Can you see me reflected in his gazing globe?

I did manage to find one more pretty sign of spring before my fingers shaped into the form of a claw from the cold:

Pretty, what are you?

The tiny buds remind me of lilacs, but this didn’t look like any lilac that I’ve ever seen.  Anyone know what it might be?

The Pickity kitty smartly stayed inside the gift shop on this day, quietly enjoying the goings-on outside from the warmth of the window:

I did!

I certainly did!  🙂

Awesome Weekend, Part 2, Cape Cod edition, coming soon!

  1. My sister and I have been talking about going to Pickity Place. She said that the July menu is looking good. I was lucky enough to witness the Red Sox win today. It was sweet! AND we are going to the Cape next weekend so lets just follow each other around. lol

    • Definitely go to Pickity – but make a reservation, you’ll need it! All the menus pretty much look good to me. Can’t wait til we can go back again. Were you at Fenway yesterday? How awesome is that! I missed watching the game but I heard Dice-K threw a real gem.
You’re going to the Cape? And I’m going to Fenway a week from Sunday. LOL, here we go again!

  2. I love that frog prince – I bet Renae didn’t though, ha ha ha!!

Lunch this time was out-of-control good. Every single component.

  3. Sounds like a great place!
I like that flowering branch, it looks so pretty. No clue what it could be, though.

  4. Spring is taking its sweet time to take a hold this year. Smart kitty and thank you for braving the cold to give us these hopeful signs of warmth to come.

  5. The poor little angel does look cold! I like the way the pansy seems to trying to send a little sunshine his way… Thanks for the Pickity Place tip! Tim’s aunt lives in New Hampshire – maybe we’ll take her there for a treat next time we’re up that way.

    • Oh Pickity is definitely worth the trip Barbara! Make a reservation if you decide to go – they are pretty popular!

  7. I just love the name of that place: Pickity Place. It’s perfect, for some reason.

Poor angel. You’re right. He looks cold! The kitty, like all kitties, looks warm and comfy and very clever (for having stayed indoors). Whatever the flowering branch is, it’s very pretty. And I need to find a frog prince like that. You might think it would be for my granddaughter (who loves all things princess-y and princely), but no. It’s for my husband. He collects frogs (not his fault — he works with them and those of us who know that have been gifting him with little frogs here and there for years).

    • He works with frogs? What an unusual sounding profession!

  8. What a fun place! Must be simply magical in good weather.

    So nice to get away!

    • It is quite wonderful in any weather, but yes it is a pleasure to stroll around when the weather is good. Definitely worth a day trip if you ever have the chance.
