Infinite Dreams

The photo assignment this week for Picture Inspiration was “infinity and beyond.”  We were supposed to find a pattern that repeats and use a diagonal line to suggest the pattern repeats infinitely.  For my infinity, I bring you back to the power lines of my walks.  The snow has melted enough to allow the dogs and I to go back into the woods for our excursions, so I snapped these shots today.  The powerlines, which I’ve mentioned before, bring me back to my youth as I marvelled at their huge size and listened to their crackle and hum.

Youth… a time of dreams. Dreams of the future.  Funny dreams. Scary dreams.  Dreams of monsters that look like powerlines… or is that powerlines that look like monsters?

I commented to my husband today that William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy both recently turned  80 years  old.  “Does that seem possible?” I asked him.  “They made their tv show”…he began.. “In the 60’s,” I finished.  “Yeah, 50 years ago!” he exclaimed.  Oh.. I don’t like saying the 60’s were 50 years ago!  Good thing I was born at the very end of them I mused.

Dreams.  Where do they go when they don’t come true?

Daphne and Teddy don’t worry about these things.  They just say “C’mon, Mom!  Let’s  run happily through this stream crossing our path!”

Where will the path take us?

  1. I can believe that Leonard Nimoy is 80 but William Shatner? Crazy. Do you ever see signs of wildlife on these walks? Do you let the dogs off the leash?

    • I never see much beyond birds on my walks unfortunately. I’d love it if I did see some interesting critters. My two bozos are always on the leash when I take them on a walk. I am not confident in their listening skills in coming back to me. They are free to run all over our backyard when they go out because it is fenced.

  2. Good choice for the assignment with the power lines! Although I was half expecting pictures of Buzz Lightyear!

  3. Haha… Yeah I’m with you too on the thought of the 60’s being 50 years ago… Scary… Fortunately I’m latter end too… lol…
Don’t get me started on dreams though, as the key to my newly unfurnished padded cell would be thrown away permanently I think… Mine cane be WEIRD…

    • Why doesn’t that surprise me on your dreams???? 😉

  4. 80?? 50 years ago?? Oh lord… I’m old. I don’t feel old, though, so that’s good. 😀

I like how you interpreted infinity. You have such a creative mind. I used to think the big powerline things (can’t think of the name right now — the nouns are the first to go, you know, as you age…lol!) looked like giants marching across the land. I thought of that again when I saw them in the flat prairie lands of Colorado where they stand there on their own, reaching up to the sky.

    • Thanks Robin. They do look like people or monsters or giants… funny how we lose some of that childlike imagination as we grow up.

  5. As Cesar Milan, the dog whisperer, often says, “Dogs live in the moment. They don’t think about the past or future.” It must have felt wonderful getting outside again with them for a nice long walk!

    • Yes, it always feels good to get out for a walk. I’m trying to be a good doggy-mommy and get out more often.

  7. […] next Sunday, so Daphne, Teddy and I went exploring for our possible 5K route.  I noticed on a recent walk that my town had kindly added a map of trails in the woods near the powerlines where I […]
