My Scavenger Hunt Results

Filed under: Photo assignments — Karma @ 3:52 pm

Tomorrow is the last day of February!  Did you remember to finish up your scavenger hunt photos?  As of 3:15pm EST, I’ve received one link to pictures (and they are pretty fabulous I must say!).  Get your posts up by the end of the day tomorrow and drop me a link – you can leave the link in the comments here or over at my original post; either way is fine, I’ll find you!  In a few days, like Scott does, I’ll do a wrap up post with direct links to everyone’s photos.  My non-blogging friends are encouraged to post photos too – put them on Flickr and make a set called “Scavenger Hunt” and I will link to them there.

I’m happier with some of  my shots than others, but here’s what I came up with:

a bridge
a bridge

This is a little footbridge on Main St. in town.  I think it is actually part of someone’s driveway, passing over a creek.

something with stripes

Faded Old Glory hanging in the front door of a colonial era house on Main St.

Meghan is taking the class “Introduction to Accoustic Guitar” this semester at school.

big truck

I wasn’t able to get quite the shot I wanted for this one, but this is the trailer for one of the more colorful trucks in this area, and belongs to the company where if you’ve ever heard of Wilbraham at all, this is why.

round clockface

This one was actually taken inside Friendly’s, done stealthily with my iPod.

my shoes
my shoes

My favorite type of shoes – sandals! A teacher at my school, who retired last year, and I used to wait for the day when it was warm enough to wear our sandals to work, and see just how late into the fall we could keep wearing them.  Meghan says I am a sandalholic.  I don’t know, what do you think?

a park bench

park bench

Typical of just about everything around here these days, the only park benches I could find were buried in snow.

a postbox

…which I took to mean mailbox.  Just like the park benches!

I hope this isn’t too typical or expected, but it fit the bill.  I find it hard to  resist a rose as a photo subject.

I can’t wait to see how everyone chose to interpret these subjects!

  1. Oh shoot!! These last few weeks have been so crazy around here, I completely forgot about your scavenger hunt! 😦
These are great shots! I miss Friendly’s… we used to go from time to time when we lived in MD (none here in TX). That buried park bench is funny! Is that your mailbox? We have the same one!! 🙂
Your shoe shot is my favorite one. If you’re a sandalholic, I’m a flip-flop-aholic 😉

    • Ah, no big deal Michaela! It was rather short notice and a short month.
When you drive down the Mass. Turnpike, there is a sign that says “Welcome to Wilbraham, Home of Friendly’s” – the corporate offices are here. Yep, my mailbox.

      • I have a nephew who works at Friendly’s (he’s still in college, too)

  2. I’ll be posting mine on Wednesday. I will never be able to compete with your shoe photo. 😀

    Nice set of photos.

  3. This is so fun! I hope it’s done again and I’ll have more time the next time around. My fav. is also the shoe shot.

    • I popped over to the original website that posted this list, and she said she has another list ready to go for March, so I’m thinking she’ll be doing it each month as long as there is interest.

  4. I didn’t forget…life’s just been crazy and the weather, well, not that great for shooting!

    • Aw, the weather’s a lame excuse Tracy! LOL! Only 4 items on the list really had to be taken outside. 😉
Too bad you didn’t get to take any – I would’ve loved to see what you came up with because you are so creative with photography.

  5. These are great. My favorite is the shot of your shoes. (No, I don’t have a shoe or foot fetish…lol!) I like sandals too, and prefer them over any other shoes.

    Comment by Robin — February 28, 2011 @ 4:48 pm | Reply

    • Sandals are the best! Wish I could wear them year-round.
      Thanks Robin.

  6. I love the one of the cat goddess coffee cup looking over the headline from Egypt! Very clever!!

    • Ooh, I wish I could take credit for that cat-Egypt connection, Barbara! Luck of the draw there – I just thought that particular cup looked good there! Maybe my sub-conscious knew it all along! 😉

  8. Great scavenger hunt finds, Karma. I am sorry I didn’t participate this time. (You know, had a big party, still recovering, lol..) My favorites? The rose, the shoes, and the pics of your family. Good job! (I hope you get a few more participants because it is a great idea. I featured a scavenger hunt once or twice on my original blog. Didn’t get much participation but had fun.)

    • Thanks Kathy! Maybe next time…. I’m considering posting a scavenger hunt in the months that Scott doesn’t have an assignment for us.

  9. […] to post this one today for two reasons.  First, to say personally to those of you finishing up the Scavenger Hunt, I’m really looking forward to seeing your pictures!  Don’t forget to leave me a link […]

  10. The park bench doesn’t look too inviting with all the snows. You have a nice collection and great finds, looking forward to your next one.

    Comment by Nye — March 4, 2011 @ 7:24 pm | Reply

    • I agree – those park benches would be far more inviting when all this snow melts – hopefully that will be soon. It is nearly 50 degrees this morning, so we’re making some progress in the right direction!
I’m thinking of doing the scavenger hunts every other month – in the month’s when Scott Thomas doesn’t have a photo assignment for us.
