“Obscurity”
Today’s photo prompt was something of which I really didn’t need to take another picture: snow. Tracey Clark’s words, of which I give you a small section each day with my photos, of course made it sound more interesting than plain ol’ snow, but Ms. Clark also lives in the San Diego area, so this isn’t one of her regular photography subjects. She said,”When you fill your frame with the white stuff, it can be undecipherable. You get lost a little in the shot. What end is up? Down? They don’t call it a whiteout for nothing. Can you picture something frozen today? Something slushy, icy, cold, wet. And can you disorient yourself? Take a shot or two at it, just for fun.”
I begrudgingly took this shot, but I will admit up front I didn’t put a ton of effort into today’s picture. I’m sorry, Ms. Clark, but I’m tired of snow!
To try to make this more interesting, I oversaturated the color in PSE to try to bring out the sparkle and brought out that blue background. I don’t know. What do you think? I think it is still just snow!
I think you should be commended that you shot snow today! If it were me, I would have photographed a nice, frosty cold one and called it a day. 😉

Actually “frosty” was the prompt the other day when I had the margarita shot!

I like the contrast! It makes the snow seem somewhat *magical* as opposed to just freezing and ever present.

Hi there, CI. Magic is what I was hoping for, but with the piles of snow around here, snow has lost its magic for me.

I didn’t put a ton of effort into mine either but I had catching up to do. I do like how yours came out though, esp. the sparkle.

Thanks Becky – yeah I think the sparkle is all I really cared for in that shot.

It’s BEAUTIFUL snow! I like the sparkle, and the blue looks really pretty. I probably would have cropped the brown background out, though.
Sending you some of our warmer temps (low to mid 50’s this week, with a high of 65 (!!!) on Friday, then back in the mid 50’s) to help melt that snow 😉

Michaela, I’m starting to think you and your family really settled in the wrong part of this country if you like snow so much! LOL!
Our temps are back to more seasonable – upper 20’s, low 30’s, but we’ve got another dang storm coming in tomorrow night. **SIGH**

I agree – I’m ready for the snow to go away, too!! Although we actually haven’t had a ton of it, we have had ice, wind, arctic temperatures, along with ENOUGH snow! Enough to keep me inside too many days….
I DO like the effect you’ve brought out in your photo, though! The blue was actually what I noticed first!

Thanks Holly. I think Mother Nature is making up for the last few years around here when we didn’t really have much snow.

This is a tough one to make something look different than what it is… You did or nicely!

I think it looks pretty and sparkly. But I’m with you on this one. I’ve had enough of the snow, too.

I know, huh? This winter is making up for several winters in recent memory.

OOOOh, close up snow! I like it. I am not tired of photographing snow, yet. shoveling it, yes. But looking closely at it–not yet.

I think I’m just feeling a bit overwhelmed by snow these days. I think I mentioned to you before how I’m not used to getting large amounts of snow at a time, at least not in recent memory. The two feet plus on the ground right now is getting tiresome as the snowbanks grow taller and taller.

very pretty but I am with you…so over the snow.. 50 plus inches in a month, that is more than enough… I know the forecast looks good now but I just heard that in the longterm forecast more is coming…ugh
