“Wrapped Up”

Towels? Really? That was my first thought when I read today’s prompt: “Today, your challenge is to consider ways you can evoke some kind of emotion in a picture incorporating a towel, or towels.”   Emotion with a towel.  A challenge for sure.  Here’s my interpretation:

So, what emotion do you see in this shot? Teenage ennui? Maybe so, but I remember the little girl who I first taught to wrap her long, wet hair in a towel turban and how cute and funny she thought it looked.  She’s not so little anymore, but I think there’s still some little girl left inside.

  1. Aw, nice memories for you. I think there is still a little girl in all of us; at least I hope so.

    • I hope so too! I think she must be the part of me that loves to be silly!

  2. Tricky prompt interpreted splendidly! In this photo, she does appear ‘little’ and I agree with Andrea about thinking we all have a little girl left in all of us! 🙂

    • It was tricky – and a slightly odd idea for a prompt! But I ran with it, and ended up with a little bit of a mystery behind my daughter’s eyes.

  3. I’m not sure if that’s mischeif, boredom, or fear I see in her eyes! She almost looks like she’s hiding under all that towel!

    • It was my idea to have just her eyes peeking out above her sleeve. It is a bit of a mysterious shot, isn’t it?

  4. Love the complimenting blue and orange colors – very nice shot! To me, the emotion seems to be one of satisfaction, all the tasks of the day are done and now she can relax. (Of course, if it was morning I’d have to come up with a different interpretation!)

    • Hi there Barbara! Nice of you to stop by. Thanks!
Truth be told, it was the middle of the day when I took the shot, and I just had her put her robe on over her clothes because I thought it would help the picture.

  5. That’s a tough prompt. Once again, you nailed it. I see a hint of playfulness to go with the usual teenage ennui. 🙂

    • Thanks Robin. Knowing her eyes as well as I do, I’m missing the playfulness – she seems quite serious to me – but it is nice to think that it might be there. She said she was just trying to breathe since her nose and mouth were buried in the robe!

  6. I thought that she looked sad. 😦 I do really like your take on this prompt. I may skip this one, I was gone all day skiing and now I don’t feel like taking a picture of a towel. lol

    • I can see thinking that – but I know she wasn’t. She was getting ready to go to her boyfriend’s house for the afternoon!
Yeah, if I didn’t have the thought about the towel turban, I think I could have skipped this one too!

  7. I agree with Robin – you nailed it!! I think you did an incredible job with this photo! You can completely see a story in this photo by just seeing her eyes between the towel and sleeve. Nicely done!!

    • Thank you so much! In honesty, the shot was a total “set-up” – not something I happened upon, so I’m glad it looks that way. I’m also happy she agreed to be my model.

  8. Great job! That was a tough prompt, and I would NOT have known what to do with it.

    • Thank you. These prompts do usually make us think in one way or another, but this one was kind of strange.
