Picture Winter Day 13

Today’s email  prompt sounded like it was talking about my life!  “Is it just me, or does life sometimes take on the form of controlled chaos?  Today find a way to translate this kind of feeling in your own words (visually speaking).”  Sometimes?  How about always?  With two teenaged daughters, two dogs, a cat, working full time, and a husband who works nights, barely controlled chaos is pretty much life in this house.  One of my chaos creators provided the subject of today’s photo by failing to do what I’d already asked her to do (which was clean up after herself):

In the above photo, you will find: dance bag, school bag, homework papers, agenda, text books and paper organizer – all left adrift in Meghan’s wake. Good thing we ended up with another snow day today!

  1. Kids! Could be worse though — but don’t let her know I said that. 😉 Enjoy your snow day.

    • Yeah – worse would be her bedroom!

  2. You must be someone who handles chaos pretty well, Karen. Do you think? Some people seem to thrive with that energy, and others of us shut down. (I’m the chaos-shut-down type.) You took a great photo to illustrate this.

    • I guess I must, Kathy! I don’t suppose I could work in a middle school and handle my lifestyle all that well and remain (relatively) sane if I couldn’t work with chaos! 🙂

  3. Sounds like a certain teenager in my house. I CONSTANTLY have to tell her to put her school bag away, hang up her coat, make her bed, clean her room,….. *sigh*

    • Gave up trying to get the kids to clean their rooms. I just make them keep their bedroom doors closed so I don’t have to see it! As long as nothing tries to crawl out of the chaos, we’re all set!

  4. As women, we are masters of controlling chaos!! Looks like the wake of a typical teenager…tho I do spy a bit of ‘wake’ left by one of the pooches! LOL! It’s your life and I bet you wouldn’t want it any other way!

    • Those dang marrow bones are everywhere! Sometimes I don’t even notice them anymore. I don’t know about not wanting any other way… being chaotic in a beach-side house would be fine with me! 😉

  5. I really like the way you interpret these prompts. Do I say that every time? I bet I do. Because I do. 🙂

I can’t believe I’m about to put this in writing but… (and don’t tell anyone!) … there are days when I miss the chaos of having my children around.

    • I think you’ve varied your comments, Robin! Thanks!
You’ve just told anyone who cares to read it, LOL. My oldest is a sophomore in high school this year and I’m already worrying about what being an empty nester will feel like when my little chickies fly off to college!

  6. My oldest is 10 and I’m already freaking out about him going off to college. I loved vacation and having the kids home these past two days.

Unfortunately, my chaos doesn’t always feel controlled.

    • I know what you mean.. that’s why I added the word “barely” to “controlled” chaos.
I’m starting to freak out pretty badly – we will probably start doing college visits this summer.

  7. […] I first read today’s prompt, I thought it sounded a bit familiar, but then I realized it was looking for something quite different.  “Is there a mess you […]
