No, not that kind of stripping! 😉
I’ll admit to being a little disappointed at first with today’s photo prompt. We were supposed to look for light showing off the texture of the photo subject, then strip away the color in photo editing software. I’ve never been a big fan of black and white photography, but I can appreciate it when it is done well. Because I love vibrant color so much, finding subjects that do well in black and white is a weakness for me. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I took many pretty, colorful, fall pictures on my visit to Pickity Place, and was disappointed I couldn’t use one for yesterday’s prompt. Then I remembered a shot I took yesterday that pretty much screamed texture:
Bonus for me, since they are sheep, I didn’t lose much by removing the color. And I can admit, I think the texture of the wool is slightly enhanced with the lack of color.
Now, how about that Pickity slideshow I mentioned yesterday? Here it is, bursting with color!

Lol… Yeah black and white can be a bit testing trying to find a subject that works properly… You did manage some nice textures though, and I love your little coloured slideshow… You have some wonderful shots in there…

I’m with ya on the color or lack there of. Lovely texture, though, with the sheep. Beautiful slide-show. I’ve got to figure out how to do that.

The slideshow isn’t hard. It is easier, though, if you upload the shots you want for the slideshow directly to WordPress, rather than using Flickr. If you upload a series of shots to WordPress (with the “add an image” located above where you do your typing on your dashboard) it will save your shots to a “gallery” and takes you to that window. In that window, it asks if you’d like to create the slideshow.

You found the perfect shot for the prompt! LOTS of texture there!
I prefer color photos, too, and have such a hard time with conversions (since I don’t have Photoshop, I can’t use any of the beautiful b&w actions that are out there and have to tweak the conversions myself)
Love your slideshow, you got lots of great shots at Pickity Place.

Thanks, Michaela. I don’t have full-blown Photoshop myself, but Photoshop Elements, so I don’t think I can use a lot of the actions that are out there. I barely understand the power of the program that I do have! For this one, what I did was completely “unsaturate” the color ( the only way I could figure out to make it B&W) and then warm it up a little.

Gorgeous colors in the slide show. I can see why you were hoping for a prompt that would apply to one or any of those beautiful photos.

The color in your fountain shot is spectacular. Mine seems so dull compared to yours.

Aw, you caught me Renae. I was actually going for stop-action of the water when I took that shot, so I had the shutter speed cranked way up and the color wasn’t all that spectacular – I boosted it just a wee bit in Photoshop.
